I'm doing my first show in Preston FM tomorrow. It's a show about spiritual development, paranormal things and powers. It's titled "Finding and Believing". The tommorow's subject is "The Power of Mind".
To listen to my theories and experiments with the power of thought (and to some remarkable pieces of music) tune to 87.9 FM at 8pm tomorrow (Friday 6th June) if you live near Preston, Lancashire. Otherwise just visit my podcast again on Saturday and the recording should be there!
This was my first live broadcast! It was on air at 20.00 on Friday 6th June 2008 on Preston FM. I think it went very well (ok, not perfectly, but it really wasn't bad for the first time!).
It was about the influence our minds can have on our lives, bodies, our material possesions - and everything else.
I divided it into three parts, to make it easier to download.
In the first part I explain my understanding of the way we can shape our lives with our thoughts - and our bodies too!
It starts off with Pat Metheny's "Finding and Believing" - my title track.
Then there is quite a bit of talking with "Isola Natale" and "Shabda" in background (first one is by Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger & The Trinity and the other by Mike Oldfield).
This part ends with an all-time jazz classic, "Take Five" by Dave Brubeck's quartet.
In this part, we talk about prosperity, thinking patterns that cause people to be poor and about everyone's right to be rich.
The song in the background while we're talking is "Sleeping Satellite" by Tasmin Archer (the extended version).
This part finishes with a Polish song (I'm Polish!), Anita Lipnicka's "Wszystko Się Może Zdarzyć".
In the last part of my show I played bits of famous movies that I found to be wise and then we commented on them.
Then went Orbital - "Halcyon and On and On", a remarkable song which I find very empowering.
The show ended with my last words of advice - and a disclaimer
I finished it all off with Chuck Mangione's "Chase the Clouds away".
Special thanks to Talony for coming to the studio and helping me with the programme!
This program went in almost every respect NOT as planned. First, it turned out that both people I invited as guests won't be able to make it to the studio. Then, I realised I forgot to take my notes with me. Thankfully, I took the music, but still, I had to do the whole show from memory - on my own! There are some "erm"s and rather frequent pauses, and I'm not entirely sure if what I was talking about made sense. It was very abstract at times, that's for sure!
The first part is about afterlife. It starts - as usual - with Pat Metheny's "Finding and Believing". Then I talked for quite a while, backed up by "Wrapped around your Finger" by The Police.
This part is mainly me and my rather esoteric thoughts on the nature of the world we happen to live in.
Background: Ludivico Einaudi - Le Onde, Mike Oldfield - On My Heart.
It ends with a Polish song - "Straszne Sny Naczelnika Poczty w Tomaszowie" by Skaldowie.
I talk a lot here, mainly about ghost-related stuff. I was struggling a bit at times, because that subject is not easy to talk about without some kind of script, even in your mother tongue - and remember, I'm foreign! But I hope it all makes some sense.
Background: Sting - "If I Ever Lose My Faith In You", INXS -"By my side", "Isola Natale" by Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger & the Trinity (this one is a repeat from the previous program, but I like it and it is a good song to play in background!)
Songs: "Send Me an Angel" by The Scorpions, Tai Chi Relaxation - [artist unknown], Enya - "Storms in Africa"
In this show I try to explain what is Feng Shui and how it links with Chinese culture. Many thanks to Gan Lu and Jo Li for coming to the studio to help me and my listeners understand the sophisticated nature of this ancient way of life!
There is lots of Chinese or Chinese-themed music in this show – however it’s playing in the background for the most part, because it turned out there were so many interesting things to talk about that I hardly had any time to play songs!
Start was – as always – “Finding and Believing” by Pat Metheny, to put you in this inquisitive mood. Next was “Nine million bicycles” by Katie Melua, then “Hop szklankę piwa” by Marek Grechuta (this is my Polish song for this show as you may have guessed) and Kitaro’s “Matsuri” in the end.
Between the songs we were discussing various aspects of Feng Shui, Chinese way of life, their traditions and stories. Playing in the background were the following songs: “Heaven and Earth” by Kitaro, Yoyo Ma – “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon”, Oliver Chanti and Friends – “Tai Chi Chuan Way And Meditation” and “88 Patterns Of Tai Chi Chuan” by unknown artist.
By the way, Kitaro is a Japanese composer, not Chinese, but I do hope that my Chinese listeners won’t mind it – it’s still great music and it is very similar to Chinese (Jo Li thought it actually was Chinese!).
